About Builder AI Tools

Free, fast tools for the maths and paperwork that come with building work in the UK.

What this site is

Builder AI Tools is a set of free calculators for builders, trades and self-builders in the UK. The tools use UK product sizes (25 kg cement bags, 440 × 215 mm blocks, metric roof battens) and refer to the Building Regulations for England where rules apply.

How we build the calculators

Each calculator shows the formula, the assumptions and a worked example, and its maths is covered by automated tests that run every time the site is updated. Where a tool touches safety, such as stairs and beams, it says clearly what it does not check and who should sign the design off.

How the site is funded

The site is free to use and is paid for by advertising. Ads are kept away from the calculator inputs so they do not get in the way. Paid tools for heavier users are planned; the calculators on this site will stay free.

Who runs it

Builder AI Tools is operated by FOM – Fidex Orbis Mercatus. Suggestions, corrections and ideas for new tools are welcome on the contact page.
